Biodiversity Commitments



I. Introduction

SITC International is committed to becoming a responsible shipping and logistics company on a global scale. We are well aware of the importance of biodiversity to the earth's ecosystem, so we are committed to taking active measures in our business activities to protect biodiversity and ecosystem services and reduce negative impacts on the natural environment.

 

II. Commitment

To achieve the goal of biodiversity conservation, SITC International commits to:

1. Achieve a net positive impact on biodiversity (NPI): We will strive to stabilize the impact on biodiversity across our entire value chain by 2030, guided by the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. And continue to next, restore natural ecosystems by 2040 and achieve net improvement by 2050. To achieve this goal, we will take the following actions:

a. Implement sustainable procurement policies to ensure that our supply chain does not have a negative impact on biodiversity.

b. Support ecological restoration projects, such as reforestation, wetland restoration, marine protection, etc., to mitigate the impact of our business on biodiversity

c. Reduce energy consumption and waste emissions through technological innovation and optimization of operating processes, thereby reducing pressure on the ecological environment.

 

2. Identify biodiversity-related targets for priority areas and work towards no net loss: We will identify priority areas through biodiversity risk assessments and set specific targets to reduce dependence on and impact on biodiversity. risk. Specific measures include:

a. Conduct regular assessments of key biodiversity areas to identify and prevent potential risks.

b. Cooperate with local communities and non-governmental organizations to jointly carry out biodiversity conservation projects and improve the resilience of ecosystems.

c. Optimize routes and transportation methods to reduce the impact on marine biodiversity.

 

3. Biodiversity protection within the value chain and avoid operating activities near sites containing globally or nationally important biodiversity: We will ensure that business activities on a global scale do not have a negative impact on biodiversity-sensitive areas. To achieve this goal, we will take the following actions:

a. Fully consider biodiversity protection factors when selecting sites for new projects to avoid impact on important ecological areas.

b. Conduct a biodiversity impact assessment on existing businesses and take necessary measures to reduce the impact on sensitive areas.

c. Encourage suppliers and partners to adopt biodiversity protection measures to jointly reduce pressure on the ecological environment.

 

4. Application of a mitigation hierarchy: We will adopt a mitigation hierarchy approach that prioritizes avoiding impacts on biodiversity, followed by limiting or reducing impacts on biodiversity, and undertakes the responsibility of restoration of areas and ecosystems adversely affected by business operations. Specific measures include:

a. In the planning and design stage of new projects/new routes, give full consideration to biodiversity protection and use best available technologies to reduce the impact on the ecological environment.

b. During the operation process, implement strict environmental monitoring and management to ensure that the impact on biodiversity is effectively controlled.

c. Restoration and restoration of affected ecosystems to achieve no net loss of biodiversity.

 

5. Conduct biodiversity risk assessments: We will conduct biodiversity risk assessments of our business activities where technical conditions permit, in order to identify and manage risks related to biodiversity and ecosystem services. Specific measures include:

a. Establish a biodiversity risk assessment system and conduct regular assessments of business activities.

b. Incorporate biodiversity risks into the company's overall risk management system to ensure that biodiversity protection becomes an important part of the company's strategy.

 

6. Engage with stakeholders on biodiversity: We will work with suppliers, customers, local communities, NGOs and other stakeholders to work together to protect biodiversity.

b. Actively participate in industry and regional biodiversity conservation initiatives and share experiences and best practices.

This policy applies to all business activities of SITC International, including self-operated business, suppliers and partners.

This policy has been endorsed by members of SITC International’s board of directors and executive management and will be reviewed regularly to ensure its continued effectiveness.

We will ensure that this policy is effectively implemented within the company and regularly monitor and report on our progress towards achieving our biodiversity commitments. We will disclose our efforts and results in protecting biodiversity through public reports and company websites.
