Human Rights Due Diligence Process and Guidelines



Our company is committed to respecting and protecting human rights and ensuring that our business activities do not negatively impact any human rights. To achieve this, we have established a human rights due diligence process to identify and assess potential impacts and risks associated with respect for human rights. Our human rights due diligence process is in place and we will regularly evaluate and improve our processes to ensure that our business activities do not negatively impact human rights.

 

We are based on the company's human rights commitments, anti-discrimination and harassment policy statements, supplier code of conduct requirements, important supplier evaluation indicators and other public documents, and comply with the OCED "Code for Multinational Enterprises", "Responsible Business Conduct Due Diligence Guidelines", the United Nations The "Guiding Principles on Business Enterprises and Human Rights" and relevant laws and regulations where each business site is located formulate specific human rights due diligence importance classification and investigation procedures.

 

Our human rights due diligence process includes the following steps:

(“We” below refer to SITC International and the subsidiaries controlled and operated by the company, but this human rights due diligence investigation process also applies to our suppliers and partners.)

 

Step 1: Identify human rights risks

To identify human rights risks associated with our business, we will take the following steps:

 

1. Regarding our own business activities, we will conduct the following assessments:

1) Review our employee recruitment, promotion and termination procedures to ensure there are no discriminatory practices;

2) inspect our workplaces and facilities to ensure a safe, healthy and suitable working environment;

3) Evaluate our employee working hours and compensation to ensure compliance with local labor regulations;

4) Review our employee benefits and benefit plans to ensure compliance with local regulations and standards.

 

2. Regarding our value chain or other activities related to our business, we will conduct the following assessment:

1) Evaluate our supplier selection procedures to ensure that the suppliers we select meet human rights standards;

2) Review our supplier contracts to ensure human rights standards are included;

3) Review our supplier management procedures to ensure our suppliers comply with human rights standards;

4) Evaluate our freight and logistics operations to ensure that our business activities do not have a negative impact on local communities and the environment.

 

3. For our new business relationships (such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, etc.), we will conduct the following evaluations:

1) Assess the human rights records of our potential partners to ensure that our partners meet human rights standards;

2) Review our partner contracts to ensure human rights standards are included;

3) Review our partner management procedures to ensure our partners comply with human rights standards;

4) Evaluate our new business activities to ensure that our business activities will not have a negative impact on local communities and the environment.

 

4. Regarding our shore logistics, terminals, yards and other businesses, we will conduct the following assessments:

1) Review our employee recruitment, promotion and termination procedures to ensure there are no discriminatory practices;

2) inspect our workplaces and facilities to ensure a safe, healthy and suitable working environment;

3) Evaluate our employee working hours and compensation to ensure compliance with local labor regulations;

4) Review our employee benefits and benefit plans to ensure compliance with local regulations and standards;

5) Evaluate our freight and logistics operations to ensure that our business activities do not have a negative impact on local communities and the environment.

 

 

Step 2: Identify human rights issues and vulnerable groups

 

1. Identify human rights issues

We will focus on identifying the following human rights issues within the company and promote identification within the supply chain:

1) Forced labor: We will ensure that our employees are not forced to perform work and that their work is voluntary.

2) Human Trafficking: We will ensure that our employees are not trafficked or subject to other forms of human trafficking.

3) Child labor: We will ensure that our employees do not use child labor and that their work complies with local regulations and standards.

4) Freedom of association: We will ensure that our employees have the right to join and quit trade unions and that their trade union rights are respected.

5) Collective bargaining rights: We will ensure that our employees have the right to collective bargaining and that their bargaining rights are respected.

6) Equal pay: We will ensure that our employees receive equal pay under the same conditions regardless of gender and race.

7) Discrimination and harassment: We will ensure that our employees are not subject to any form of discrimination or harassment.

 

2. Vulnerable groups

We will identify the following vulnerable groups:

1) Employees of our company: We will ensure that the human rights of our employees are respected and protected.

2) Women: We will ensure that our female employees are treated equally and fairly and that their rights are respected.

3) Children: We will ensure that we do not use child labor and that children's rights are respected and protected.

4) Indigenous Peoples: We will ensure that our business activities do not negatively impact the rights of Indigenous Peoples and that we will respect and protect their rights.

5) Migrant workers: We will ensure that our migrant workers are treated equally and fairly and that their rights are respected.

6) Third-party employees: We will ensure that the rights of our third-party employees are respected and protected.

7) Local communities: We will ensure that our business activities do not negatively impact the rights of local communities and that we will respect and protect their rights.

 

 

Step 3: Assess the risks and severity of the problem

To assess the extent of the human rights risks and issues associated with our business, we will take the following steps:

 

1. Determine evaluation criteria

We will establish assessment criteria to assess the extent of human rights risks and issues. These standards include but are not limited to:

1) The degree of impact on the parties involved;

2) Probability and duration of risk;

3) Requirements of relevant regulations and standards;

4) Public attention and reputational impact;

5) Other relevant factors.

 

2. Assess the risks and severity of the problem

We will assess the severity of human rights risks and issues associated with our operations to determine their priority and the urgency for taking appropriate action. We will consider the evaluation criteria mentioned above as well as other factors.

 

 

Step 4: Take control measures

We put appropriate controls in place to mitigate or eliminate potential impacts and risks. These controls include but are not limited to:

 

1. Establish policies and procedures

We will establish policies and procedures to ensure that our business activities comply with human rights standards. These policies and procedures include, but are not limited to:

1) Human Rights Policy Statement: We will publish a clear Human Rights Policy Statement to ensure that our employees, suppliers and other stakeholders understand our commitments and expectations.

2) Supplier Management Plan: We will work with our suppliers to establish and implement a supplier management plan to ensure that they also comply with human rights standards.

3) Risk assessment: We will conduct a risk assessment of our business activities to identify potential human rights risks and issues and take appropriate control measures.

4) Complaint mechanism: We will establish a complaint mechanism so that employees, suppliers and other stakeholders can report human rights issues to us and ensure that we take appropriate actions in a timely manner.

 

2. Collaborate with suppliers and other partners

We will work with suppliers and other partners to ensure they also comply with human rights standards. These collaborations include but are not limited to:

1) Contractual clauses: We will include human rights clauses in contracts to ensure that suppliers and other partners comply with human rights standards.

2) Assessment and monitoring: We will assess and monitor our suppliers and other partners to ensure they comply with human rights standards.

3) Establish partnerships: We will establish long-term partnerships with suppliers and other partners that comply with human rights standards.

 

3. Provide training and education

We will provide training and education to increase employee and supplier awareness and understanding. This training and education includes but is not limited to:

1) Employee training: We will provide human rights training to employees to improve their awareness and understanding of human rights issues.

2) Supplier training: We will provide human rights training to our suppliers to ensure they understand our human rights standards and expectations.

3) Other educational activities: We will organize other educational activities to increase the awareness and understanding of human rights issues among employees and suppliers.

 

4. Establish mechanisms to monitor and report on human rights issues

We will establish mechanisms to monitor and report on human rights issues. These mechanisms include but are not limited to the following (see step five for details):

1) Monitoring and evaluation: We will monitor and evaluate our business activities to ensure that we comply with human rights standards and to detect and resolve human rights issues in a timely manner.

2) Reporting mechanism: We will establish a reporting mechanism to report our human rights performance and measures to employees, suppliers and other stakeholders.

3) Openness and transparency: We will openly and transparently report our human rights performance and measures to the public to promote transparency and accountability.

 

 

Step Five: Monitor, Report and Improve

To ensure the effectiveness and continuous improvement of our human rights due diligence process, we will take the following steps:

 

1. Monitor implementation status

We will regularly monitor the implementation of our human rights due diligence process to ensure that our processes comply with human rights standards and regulatory requirements. These monitoring include but are not limited to:

 

1) Internal review: We will conduct an internal review of our human rights due diligence process to assess its effectiveness and opportunities for improvement.

2) External review: We will invite an independent third party to conduct an external review to assess whether our human rights due diligence process complies with human rights standards and regulatory requirements.

 

2. Report implementation status

We will regularly report to internal and external stakeholders on the implementation of our human rights due diligence process and plans to improve it, and invite them to participate in the development of our improvement plan. These reports include but are not limited to:

 

1) Internal reporting: We will report on the implementation status of our human rights due diligence process and improvement plans to internal stakeholders to ensure that internal teams understand the effectiveness and improvement opportunities of our human rights due diligence process.

2) External reporting: We will report to external stakeholders on the implementation status and improvement plans of our human rights due diligence process to ensure that the public understands the effectiveness and improvement opportunities of our human rights due diligence process.

 

3. Improve processes

We will continually improve our human rights due diligence processes to ensure their effectiveness and compliance with the latest human rights standards and regulatory requirements. These improvements include but are not limited to:

 

1) Identify opportunities for improvement: We will identify opportunities for improvement in our human rights due diligence process, invite stakeholders for meetings, solicit internal and external opinions, and develop corresponding improvement plans.

2) Implement the improvement plan: We will implement the improvement plan and monitor its implementation and effect.

3) Continuous improvement: We will continue to improve our human rights due diligence process to ensure that it complies with the latest human rights standards and regulatory requirements.
