Occupational Health and Safety Commitment

"Employees are the wealth of SITC" is the core value of the company. Our company has always placed the protection of employees' life, health and safety at the top priority, which is an important foundation for our successful operation. We are committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our workers throughout the entire operation of the company. SITC International has established a strict occupational health and safety management system (OHS) policy as well as KPI targets.

Our company regards "employee health and safety within the value chain" as an important sustainable development issue, takes net zero safety incidents in the value chain as the most important goal, and has set goals, key performance indicators and action plans related to safety and quality. In response to this, our company has set a net-zero safety and health accident target of "five zeros" :

Achieve zero occurrence rates of serious maritime accidents, Marine pollution accidents caused by oil and gas leaks, serious cargo accidents, fatal accidents related to industrial accidents, and employee overwork accidents.

To achieve this goal, we objectively evaluate safety quality through Safety Performance Indicators (SPI) and pursue the world's highest level of safety and quality. Most of these indicators are based on the owned and leased vessels operated by our group. Health and safety indicators are applied to all our employees, not only all our full-time hired staff, but also to our outsourced and part-time employees, etc. At the same time, cultivate a safety culture, enhance employees' safety awareness through regular training, and eliminate accidents on board and occupational accidents. And a comprehensive and rigorous "Occupational Health and Safety Operation Control Procedure" and other related documents have been formulated.

We are committed to achieving the highest level of safety and quality throughout the company's value chain. We aim to achieve net zero internal safety incidents while helping upstream suppliers and downstream partners enhance their safety standards. We also require our contractors and suppliers to comply with our net zero safety incident goals and health and safety policies.

The base year for the above-mentioned net-zero accident target is 2020, and the target year is 2030. In addition to the net-zero target, we have also set medium - and long-term quantified OHS targets:

By 2030, the full-time employee injury rate (LTIFR) will be reduced by 80% compared to 2022, and the frequency of lost working days (LWR) will be decreased by 90%.

By 2030, the rate of work-related injuries (LTIFR) of contractors will be reduced by 80% compared to 2022, and the frequency of lost working days (LWR) will be decreased by 90%.

By 2030, the combined injury rate (LTIFR) of full-time employees and contractors will be reduced by 80% compared to 2022, and the frequency of lost working days (LWR) will be decreased by 90%. The total lost working hours were reduced by 90%.

In 2023, we set a goal to keep the lost working hours under 500 hours, a decrease of approximately 27.5% compared to 2020. This goal has been successfully achieved.

Note: The number of working hours lost due to work-related injury is equal to the number of working days lost due to work-related injury multiplied by 8.

Among our full-time employees, those working at sea account for 30-40%, while among the contractors, the proportion of such workers exceeds 80%. Moreover, the risk rate of work-related injuries for workers at sea is much higher than that for workers on land. Therefore, from a statistical perspective, the work-related injury rate of the contractors is likely to be higher than that of our full-time employees due to the objective factor of the nature of the work. But we promise that we will always attach equal importance to the life safety of all our employees and contractors, and are committed to ensuring that all of our employees and contractors can return home in good health.

In 2024, two full-time employees of our company were injured on the job, and no employee died on the job. The injured employees are seafarers at sea. In 2024, the frequency of work-related injury losses (LTIFR) for all regular employees of the group is 0.30, and the frequency of working days losses (LWR) for regular employees is 0.21. In terms of contractors, the company's various indicators such as the number of work-related injuries, the number of lost hours, and the incidence rate among contractors in 2024 have all decreased significantly. Overall, our company has successfully made progress in protecting the health and safety of employees. The safety indicators of employees have been comprehensively improved. In the future, we are committed to maintaining a good level of health and safety.

Employee health and safety policies and commitments

SITC International reflects the organization's long-term direction in health and safety through its company-wide OHS policy and commitment. It sets out the company's health and safety approach and clearly defines the expectations the company has for its employees and other stakeholders. Then, the commitments contained in the policy will be reflected in the processes established by the company to ensure the establishment of a sound, trustworthy and reliable OHS management system. Therefore, occupational health and safety commitments are a valuable and necessary step in formulating further measures.

1. Our company has implemented an occupational health and safety management system, complying with ISO 45001 standards as well as other applicable national or international OHS standards and regulations, voluntary plans and OHS collective agreements. During the process of maritime transportation, Special attention should be paid to complying with the regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on occupational health and safety of ships, as well as the requirements of the SOLAS Convention, the STCW Convention and MLC2006. Our company is committed to respecting human rights and abiding by the OCED Code of Conduct for Transnational Corporations, the Responsible Business Conduct and Responsible Management Guidelines, as well as the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Our company undertakes to introduce occupational health and safety standards in the contract requirements for all employees under the overall operation of the company and contractors and individuals under the supervision of the company (hereinafter collectively referred to as workers) throughout the company.

2. Our company has formulated a systematic occupational health and safety risk assessment process, continuously completed the identification of work-related hazards and the risk assessment process, and applied the risk control system and regulations to minimize these hazards. To ensure that workers can freely evacuate potentially dangerous working environments and report risk issues, the company promises to protect workers from retaliation, improve work environment risks, and carry out equipment maintenance and updates to prevent and mitigate negative direct health and safety impacts during operations.

3. Our company provides occupational health services for workers to ensure that their health conditions are protected in specific working environments and to safeguard their health privacy and security. And promote workers' access to other non-occupational healthcare services. The company promises to provide workers with adequate occupational health and safety training to enhance awareness and reduce operational health and safety accidents, protecting them from work-related hazards. And institutionalize the procedures for investigating work-related injuries, poor health conditions, diseases and accidents to ensure that workers' work-related injuries are fully compensated and to make every effort to reduce the probability of future occurrence.

4. During the development, implementation and evaluation of the occupational health and safety management system, our company widely solicits the opinions of workers and incorporates them into the system. Our company is committed to conducting internal occupational health and safety performance evaluations on a continuous and regular basis. While implementing the OHS management system, we attempt to identify existing problems in the system and make improvements, adopting best practices and new technologies to enhance OHS performance. And formulate priorities and action plans, and combine them with quantitative goals for improving occupational health and safety performance indicators to address these risks and integrate preparedness and response actions for emergencies. And regularly assess the progress in reducing/preventing health problems/target risks.

5. The senior management of this company recognizes the implementation strategy of the occupational health and safety policy, clarifies the responsibilities and obligations of the company's management and employees in terms of occupational health and safety, and the top decision-maker is the executive management team. Our company's safety policy is not merely a document; it is regarded as an integral part of our organizational culture, values, and performance standards. We adhere to the principles of "zero accidents" and "zero injuries" to ensure that every worker can return home safely, and we are committed to taking responsibility for the communities and environment involved in maritime transportation. Protect the well-being of workers and communities through occupational health and safety management.

6. Our company is not only committed to ensuring the occupational health and safety of its internal workers (including any part-time or outsourced employees and other non-formal full-time employees who work for our company), but also extends this commitment to the levels of contractors, suppliers and partners. The company requires its suppliers and partners to comply with relevant occupational health and safety regulations and standards, and during the period of cooperation with the company, implement occupational health and safety management measures that meet the company's requirements. The company will assess the occupational health and safety management of its suppliers and partners, and cooperate with them to provide the training they need, working together to improve occupational health and safety performance. Meanwhile, the company encourages contractors, suppliers and partners to formulate and implement their own occupational health and safety management systems to ensure the occupational health and safety of the global supply chain. Through these measures, SITC International extends its commitment to occupational health and safety throughout the entire supply chain, ensuring that workers of both the company and its partners can work in a safe and healthy environment.

Through the above series of actions, SITC International ensures the establishment of a sound, trustworthy and reliable OHS management system to safeguard the occupational health and safety of its workers.
